The Doukhobor Gazetteer - Search Details
Usol'ye
In 1820, a Doukhobor exile from Tomsk was assigned to the village of Biliktuy in the Baday rural sub-district of Usol’ye district, Irkutsk province, Russia. He was joined by a number of Doukhobors exiled from elsewhere in Russia. There, and in the neighbouring village of Mal’ta, the Doukhobors made a number of new converts among the Orthodox peasantry. In 1824, several Usol’ye Doukhobors were exiled to the Verkhne-Udinsk district of the province. The remaining Doukhobors were active in the district until at least 1843. The subsequent fate of the Usol’ye Doukhobors is unknown.
