Pavlovo

District: Pelly
Province: Saskatchewan
Country: Canada

In 1905, Community Doukhobors established the village of Pavlovo (Павлово) near Whitebeech Creek in the present Pelly district of Saskatchewan. The name is derived from the Russian men’s name Pavel and probably commemorates either St. Pavel, whose feast day is observed by Doukhobors on June 29th, or else an early village elder. The village had a gristmill and a sawmill. By 1913 it was abandoned as villagers relocated to British Columbia. (1905 pop. 133) [NE3-35-31-W1] [51.98244° N, -101.81528° W]
