Novo-Goreloye Cemetery was established in 1899 by the Doukhobors of Novo-Goreloye village near Buchanan. After the abandonment of the village in 1910, the cemetery ceased to be actively used. Over the years, it has gradually been brought under cultivation and now only a portion of the cemetery remains intact. The cemetery is privately owned.
The cemetery is approximately half an acre in size and is unenclosed. The cemetery contains approximately 25 interments in one or more rows facing east-west. The graves are unmarked, save for a large concrete pad covering several graves. Today, all that remains is a grassy bluff in the middle of a cultivated field.
To access the cemetery, travel west from Buchanan on Highway No. 5 for 2 miles (3.2 km). Then turn north and continue on the gravel road for 1 1/2 miles (2.4 km). The cemetery is on the west side of the road, approximately 150 yards (137 m) from the road allowance. This cemetery is on private property and permission to access should be obtained by the owners.
